“Justice For Martin Lee Anderson”

Florida State Conference NAACP Demands Justice

During Upcoming March and Rally

WHO:

Florida State Conference NAACP

WHAT:

The Florida State Conference NAACP is requesting thousands of people from across the state of Florida and the Nation to attended and support the “The Justice for Martin Lee Anderson” March and Rally to demand justice for Martin Lee Anderson, a Black 14-year-old who was tragically killed while in the custody of a Bay County Boot Camp. March Flyer

WHEN:

Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m

WHERE:

Tallahassee Federal Courthouse

WHY:

The Florida State Conference NAACP is outraged at the verdict that was rendered on Friday, October 12, 2007, that an all white jury, acquitted the Deputies and Nurse who were responsible for the death of Martin Lee Anderson. The Florida State Conference has requested the US Department of Justice to investigate the charges for possible Civil Rights Violation.

The defense was based on the fact that young Martin died from the Sickle Cell Trait and not from the beating, kicking and the use of ammonia. The video shows that the Deputies used excessive force on young Martin. This 14 year old baby was beaten by eight deputies while the Nurse looked on. There are clear Civil Rights Violations and they will be brought to justice. The March will take place at the Federal Courthouse on the south side of Monroe Street.
