Legal Redress

  • Investigate all cases where complaint forms have been filed and make recommendations (whether or not to proceed) and make reports to the Branch's Executive Committee;
  • Supervise all litigation in which the Branch is interested;
  • Keep the State Conference, Regional and National Office informed on the progress of every case it believes has validity;
  • Assist in the defense of innocent African Americans and other disenfranchised individuals where fundamental civil or constitutional rights have been violated;
  • Take affirmative action to establish and advocate the full implementation of principles of law to address that have been denied to African Americans or other disenfranchised groups;
  • Act as the Advisor to the Branch in legal matters. Consult the Legal Department of the National Office for advice;
  • The Committee does not give or provide any legal advice
